well hey, i’m a b b y

Hey you! Whether you’ve punched in my web address on purpose or stumbled across me by accident, I’m just so excited you’ve found your way here!

I’m Abby, but you probably have already gathered that.  I’m just a brunette with a heart that loves words and beautiful, ordinary candid life. I obsess big time over journals and go crazy over ink pens (I never have too many in my collection.) I’m a book person, a word worm, a story girl. Traveling anywhere is my forte, ice cream is my happy food,  and little cities that need exploring is one of my favorite pastimes. I’m living life as a happy newlywed wifey to my awesome guy, Luke, in the cute little urban city of Chattanooga, TN.

You’ll find a smattering of all my/our adventures here, and also just some words of mine when I need a place to spill my creative juices. I love stories. Stories of people I know well and hold dear, but also the people I just pass on the street. As a creative writer, I also love creating stories of my own, so you’ll be seeing a bit of that here too from time to time.

But why writing? Well, here is part of my  s  t  o  r  y …

Funny, when I flip back in the files of my mind, the love I have of writing & words definitely had a way of sneaking up on me. I think it was always there like an old friend, I never really recognized or acknowledged it’s existence until one day it suddenly raised it’s head.

I smiled. I had found my passion.

W o r d s.

Ever since I could grip a pencil and make sense of the trail it made, I relished pulling out my journal (then, a three-ring binder with wide journaling margins) on the living room floor, my anything-but-neat handwriting littering the pages. That creative eight-year-old mind would let loose as I recounted the day’s to-doings.
Some things never change. . . well, ok, maybe my handwriting and spelling has and my scribblings here have taken on a new flavor; but that journaling word worm of a girl is still here!

My journal may no longer be a ring binder with hand drawn stick figures, but I see that season as a framework and the stepping stones to where I am today, clacking my words away and snapping more realistic shots of everyday life. But I have far from arrived, a year from now I may very well look back on these posts with the same laughing smile as those old journal pages.
I see myself as an amateur in my craft, ever learning, ever exploring, ever wandering about with words; prepared for the next step wherever my Lord leads. I am ready for any adventure no matter how small, it is by His grace alone that I am here writing these words!

Words are also important, we can choose to build up or tear down with what comes out of our mouths or trickles from our keyboards. I truly pray that you would leave here with your joy being full and maybe a smile on your face in seeing a glimpse of the everyday life I am steeped in, beautiful and  sometimes not so beautiful. And not only this, but that you would be encouraged to perhaps take a longer look at those moments of your own, they are each here for only a moment, a unique gift only to be opened once!

It is often said that a picture can speak a thousand words. While this is probably true, I thrive on the irony of using both, pictures and words.

But anywho, that’s me.

Click around and join me in my little corner of life, also shoot me a line if you’d love to chat, because I’d love to!
